Birds are the most visible wildlife we see and hear them on a daily basis. For this reason we are encouraging members of the Nature Whatsapp Group to provide information about the birds they sight using the Survey Form (below) to record the birds you spot. We will curate information from the survey on this page and see just how many birds we can identify. Betchworth & Surroundings Bird Survey Form

Introduction to Bird Spotting and the BTO Garden Birdwatch Scheme. Peter Almond British Trust for Ornithology Ambassador for Surrey This talk is for anyone who is interested in our garden birds. Drawing on his experience of bird watching and armed with the appropriate equipment, identification guides and apps, Peter will share tips on identifying species with examples of both the more common and the less common birds that we might expect to see locally, distinguishing between similar species and what some describe as "little brown birds." He will also introduce the Garden Birdwatch Scheme and explain how it contributes to monitoring the trends in bird populations. Here is the recording of the meeting Helping wild birds to flourish We can help wild birds survive the winter when natural food resources are lean by providing the right food and creating feeding conditions that meet the needs of different species. This tutorial provides a great introduction. |
